The Quiet Problem of School Bathroom Vaping
Vaping at school is one of those problems everyone knows about but not everyone wants to talk about directly. Bathrooms, stairwells, and parking lots become unofficial hiding places.
Many students think vaping is less serious than smoking because it smells sweet and looks small. But that is exactly why it spreads so easily. A device can fit in a pocket, and the flavors make it seem closer to candy than addiction.
Punishment alone probably will not solve the issue. If students are stressed, curious, or trying to fit in, suspensions may only push the behavior further underground.
Schools need honest health education, confidential support, and real conversations about stress and peer pressure. Friends also need to stop treating addiction like a joke.
A bathroom should not feel like a place where students choose between ignoring a problem and reporting classmates. Health should be easier to discuss before it becomes discipline.
