AI Tutors and the Habit of Not Struggling

AI tutoring tools can explain homework in seconds, which is helpful but also a little dangerous. When I get stuck on a math problem, it is tempting to ask the tool before I have really tried. The answer feels like learning, even when I only copied the steps.

Students need support, especially when teachers are busy and parents cannot always help. AI can be like a patient study partner that never gets tired. The problem is when it removes the uncomfortable part of learning: sitting with confusion.

Schools should not simply ban AI tutors. They should teach students when to use them. Asking for hints, examples, or feedback can be useful. Asking for a finished answer is different.

Real learning still requires some struggle. If technology makes every hard moment disappear, it may also make confidence disappear when no tool is available.
